TooFatLardies and Le Feu Sacré
TooFatLardies is a vibrant wargames development partnership that produces an ever growing range of rule sets for what we think are discerning wargamers. The emphasis with any of our rule sets is on replicating the real core issues for each of our periods. The emphasis is on what Clausewitz described as "friction" on the battlefield, along side the stresses and pressure of command.
The rules we produce reflect the periods that we ourselves game, and are consequently the product of our own enthusiasm. We hope that you will enjoy them too.
TooFatLardies came about as a result of general dissatisfaction with many commercially available rules. Predictability was a key issue, allowing gamers to make their plans with far more certainty than their historical counter-parts. What was more many rule sets view "historical accuracy" as an issue about pedantic detail, to the extent where a small computer, let alone a calculator, was needed to work out all of the factors in their over engineered systems.
What we sought was historical accuracy through removing certainty, encouraging plans that allowed for a margin of error, introducing the "friction" that has been felt on every battlefield throughout history, but so rarely in wargames rules.
What is more we were keen to keep our systems simple and user friendly, but producing a realistic battle at every stage of the game, not just in the final outcome.
These game systems are all different in their own ways, this has been necessary to reflect accurately the specific area of warfare covered by each set, however you will see similarities in mechanisms that have been used throughout all of the rules. As such picking up a new set of rules from TooFatLardies will never be a complete surprise.
